Firefighters TV Series

Broadcast on RTÉ One in September 2012, the first 8 part series of Firefighters was an incredible success. Viewers saw the work of Dublin Fire and Rescue first hand as they fought raging fires, performed life-saving medical procedures, and responded to whatever emergency the city threw at them; from river rescues and road traffic accidents to battling blazes and rescuing people from burning buildings.

Dublin Fire and Rescue receive around 133,000 calls a year. Whenever and whatever the emergency, the firefighters are first on the scene, putting themselves in danger to save lives. And it’s not just fighting fires. Every member of the Dublin Fire brigade is a trained paramedic, and between fighting fires, ambulance services, rapid river rescues, marine emergency response and high line rescue, every day and the emergencies they respond to are different.

With incredible access and using state of the art technology, viewers got to see what really happens at the heart of a fire scene and witnessed and experienced a level of real-life danger, drama and emotion never before seen on Irish television.

Producer/Director Shane Brennan says “Firefighters is a really gripping, fast-paced show that gives people a wonderful insight into the unseen work that these fantastic people do, with plenty of action and drama. It’s been an enormously exciting project to be working on.

” Filming is ongoing for a second series to be broadcast next September and Moondance expect Firefighters to start broadcasting internationally in the next year.
